Its an Acer Travelmate 3012, really small and light. So now I am online whenever I am in my room, and also when I am attending lectures (wireless).

So to start with, I am staying in a double room in Hall 11.There are 16 halls, and my hall is like farthest from anything and everything. So the first few days I was just walking, but thankfully now I make use of the shuttle bus.My roomie is a Singapore Permanent Resident. Her name is Sameera Begum, indian origin. She is very sweet and studies more than me.By the way she is doing a major in literature and minor in pyschology. Her books just simply scare me.

Okay, so how is it different from India.Well the first thing which I can do here ,is walk around the campus at 2 am. I have also walked from the nearest metro station to our campus which is like 2 km with my friends at night. The station is Boon Lay and the nearest mall (to ntu)is there which is Jurong Point.Yeah so you can see hindi movies there. Why I am writing that is because I spent around 330 rps in seeing Kabhi Alvidaa Naa Kehna there on Saturday night. And it was a shit movie.Period.

About the academic curriculum, its nice and flexible.Other than the fixed courses( common engg year for eee ie.electrical and electronic engg),I have taken up elementary Chinese and Accounting (1 out of the 5 subjects which I have to do to get a minor in Business). We have lectures and tutorials.Lectures are usually recorded and are available online, so nobody usually attends them, and there are like 800 people attending it.

Now coming to the friends part. There are like 50 indian freshman, out of which only 7-8 are females. So its like all the seniors and our batch is after them. Yeah, so there are like 3 females whom I have really got to know.Aakanksha,Ishita, and Neha. They are basically nice, but I havent really met up with females who are a bit like me, as in play games and are a bit loud. But anyways, the guys are pretty cool. They drink, smoke, watch porn, but are otherwise fun to be.There is this guy, shantanu whom I new from before. So its not very hard to make friends

I had thought of like a lot of things to write, but now I am forgetting.

Yeah, I spoke to Priyam yesterday and it was awesome.I was really missing her and every one of my friends.I am going to meet Khanna tommorow.

Will keep you guys updated.

This one is for all my freinds.I have reached Singapore, n this one is a hurried post.so dont mind the sms type writing.

Its freaking big,n i have been walking the whole of yesterday.

I hvnt gt a roomie as yet.

Will keep u updated, as sson as i get my own laptop.

Cheerio.

A new beginning

I just noticed, that I usually change the back ground when there is something new happening in my life, or when I am really bored, and havent posted for a long time. This time I think both things are true.First and foremost, I am leaving for Nanyang Tech univ,Singapore for a course in Electrical and Electronic engg on the 26th of July (actually it is 27th july,at 00.15hrs, but I think you get what I am trying to say). I am excited.Yeah ,its a long time since I have been really excited about something (I think the last time was when we were organising the annual Mathematical Soc event).Anyways, I am excited and thoroughly bored. The days seem to be too long, and powercuts are not really helping.

I guess will be back to regular posting after I go and settle down in NTU. Till then, wimbledon final and football final, are things which are keeping me going.

** If by chance there is a powercut at the time of the finals, it will be plain sad....

Bakkhali

I posted some pictures of Bakkhali, so thought might as well write about it, because its a REALLY BEAUTIFUL place.A hired Sumo took us to our destination, which is like a 4 hr drive through the villages , palm trees and many pukurs of West Bengal. In between we stopped at a place called Diamond Harbour (ships which come to the port actually pass through this place), and had a memorable breakfast of luchi, aloo dum and Thumbs Up.

Bakkhali has only one govt. tourist lodge, and some small private hotels. Its not much crowded, and that’s the beauty of the place. When the sea spread out before my eyes, I just felt very calm and serene. Only the thought of crabs and other sea creatures crawling and then clinging on to my feet, kept me from getting carried away. But the feeling of your feet sinking into the sand, which had just been washed by the water, is absolutely wonderful.

After playing in the water for really long with my cousin(getting drenched even in rolled up jeans), and lots of pics later, we decided to come back. While doing so, a kid goat caught the fancy of Toons (my cousin), and she so wanted to have it, that she went up to the village couple who owned it, and asked whether she could take it home. Toons was just getting the hang of holding the kid, when the mother goat decided to intervene. At the same moment the kid started bleating, and we both got so terribly frightened, that we just let go of the kid. It was terribly funny.

My Kolkata trip has been quite memorable – catching up with relatives, having loads of food, and just watching it rain here. Simply Awesome.

P.S. I’ll be back on 25th night. And on the 26th, I meet all my friends again, so looking forward to a wonderful time.

Some of the pics taken at a place called Bakkhali, a 4 hr drive from Kolkata. I just this heard song on radio. It being my only companion as my sis decided
to scrap the cable connection (she is giving her class 10th boards). The lyrics were the first thing which attracted me.It starts with abusing and though at first you cannot make out whether the song is addressing the sis of his beloved ( fine I will drop all pretences. it starts with the word saali and is repeated quite a few times) or the beloved itself. anyways it is sung by this Pakistani singer shehzad roy, and is quite rocking. you actually get the feeling that you are hearing a Euphoria number, which is always full of energy. It can be downloaded from http://www.apniisp.com/songs/pakistani-singles/2/1.html .

DD National Network is quite crappy, but right now its quite nice with them telecasting the test series between India and England.

Yep posts will be few and with huge gaps between them. But give me two more months and I will be back ( with a vengeance).

Till then,

cheerio

Happy Republic Day!
(ring ring ring ring.nope this aint any bell ringing. Its just Daler Mehendi singing in Rang De Basanti's title track. Its quite catchy actually. Those who have heard the song will know what I am talking about)

No the blog is not dead as yet Palsy , though a dearth of ideas may result in so in the near future.

This week I managed to catch up with some friends on the phone.Talked to Priyam and she has something up her sleeve which I am not supposed to mention and is enjoying college to the hilt.(I thought will update you guys on her as she NEVER updates her blog).Soumya who is in Nagpur studying Electrical engg, has been finally allowed to wear casuals and go to the canteen.Otherwise they were being made to wear salwar kameez and what not.

Cricket has not been worth watching, what with the flat pitches and every body scoring tons of runs in the Indo Pak tests. Yesterday, though, I watched this match between Federer and Davydenko, and it was quite awesome to see Federer being forced to commit some errors.Yeah I know it is sadist, but once in a while you wish to see the Champion lose too.BUT, naah that never happens ,and so Federer won two consecutive tie breakers to win the match.

I also went to see 15 Park Avenue last week, and as most of aparna Sen's movies are, was interesting. But the ending was pretty abrupt, and left a lot to the viewer's imagination. One thing I'd like to clarify,I dont like Aparna Sen's movies because she is a Bong but because I like her sensibilities. Though major part of the games were for couples, me and my friends had fun watching them . Stuff like paper dance and three legged race were hilarious. For the paper dance, the guys first lifted up the girls to see whether they could hold them or not. .In some cases it was the other way round. There was lots of gay stuff also, like in the competition called "Mock Daves" and "Mock rock", we had guys dressed up in blouses, skirts and sometimes nothing at all.In the Mock Rock thing,we had teams which came up on stage, and to a rock song, were banging their heads, guitars etc etc. I could not stay to watch the fusion concert, where Orange street were supposed to be playing. The disappointing thing was that they did not allow outsiders( not even students of other DU colleges).

And the best part of Harmony was that it announced the beginning of the autumn break, which means the next time I need to go to college will be after 20 days. NICE!

It is official now. I am not going to Goa. Yeah, I got a disgusting course(Msc in Eco), and though I am very unhappy at this, my friends who are staying on in Delhi, are elated. Also Delhi seems to be getting empty, as most of our friends are moving out. Prateek(Choudhary) and Bhavya have already left, and Sahiba goes to Texas in a few days. Of course of those who remain, new colleges means new friends. But I have realised something, that the comfort which you share with your friends from school ( meaning a friendship spanning 4-5 yrs), cannot be felt with the new found friends. And so I would like all my friends to know that I really cherish them.

Its hard to get to know new friends( their personality, and shucks what not). Anyways I have been bunking a lot of college lately.

Hmm, I guess thats it.

( I dont really know why I penned this post, I guess it was because of Palsy's comments on the last post, but it waivered ie the post.)

Helpless

My telephone line hasnt been working for the last week, so thats the reason for my prolonged disappearance.

Anyways lets start.St. Stephens has been an experience. First of all, there has been no ragging, even though I have attended 3 days of college already. The "freshers lunch" was actually quite a treat for the not so hygiene conscious youth of today. There was bhindi, salad, urad dal, chicken( in large helpings), raita, salad, papad, pulao and rice. But when Sahiba and me saw the stuff, we ended up having a single roti with a piece of chicken( which was immersed in oil).

After 3 days of college, I finally know where the library, cafetaria, Nes Cafe and the cyber cafe is. Starting tommorow I have access to free net at the cyber cafe there ( yeah i found out, that having the stephens id card gave lot of perks)

Some of Stephen's ways-

1. Its pronounced Stevens, but we are Stephanians ( ph- pronounced as f)
2. Due to this thing abt self denial, there are not sign boards anywhere. So you dont know where the princi's office is, or the cafetaria, and then you have to resort to asking your seniors about it. Oof

Thats it for today. Will be back before long.

Yeah, i am back. And it aint any fault of theirs because I also keep doing so.But there is a huge difference, which they are not ready to consider. Unlike them , I dont have any relatives here and dad doesnt work here, so usually we have no one visiting us.And thus the house is always in a mess, and in the last two years it has literally turned into a railway station courtesy me and my possesions, eg. books, shoes etc. Now NCERT books are quite alright, but the engineering books are quite fat. So when I start studying, I tend to forget where I have kept them(i.e. once I have arranged them in a neat manner and have kept them INSIDE the cupboard). this invariably results in me pulling everything out, and by the end of it I am so completely psst that I dont keep them back. This happens with most of my other things too.
Right now Dad is in Delhi and he is planning to shift base again( this time from Kolkata), so he has bought this huge suitcase, and some pairs of shoes, which even now are lying in the living room. This is the state in which the room was when Palsy decided to give me a brief visit. When he called up to tell me, I didnt take him seriously. At 4:30 in the afternoon or so, I was aroused from my deep slumber by my sis( yeah I was having my afternoon nap), saying that I was to go and attend to my friends. So there I was, compelled to go and be polite to them, the sole reason for which was, that Palsy had dragged along a friend with him (and I am not particularly very polite after I have to get up from my sleep due to some god forsaken reason, and I could have told this to Palsy if he would have been alone).
The icing on the cake was Sinha calling me at 8:15pm to enquire whether he too could visit me, and I rudely said no.

Anyways, the only thing which I would like to tell them ( and politely this time) , that visit me tons of times if you like BUT only after 29th of May( yeah thats when it finally ends with the DCE exam). Till then my earnest request to all of you, keep away from the place which I call home ,though you might beg to differ after you have seen it.

Adieu!

Yeah, the farewell was held on 28th Jan, and I thought this was the best thing with the help of which I could resume blogging. I will not write much about me wearing a saree( though I had earlier anticipated that it would be a disaster, it was pretty ok).
Actually, it was not much of a farewell, because it just ended up in all of us getting clicked many times with different people. I thought the guys in sherwanis were looking quite nice, and if I would have been a guy, man I would not have been able to control myself from staring at some of the very hot girls, or ladies should I say.
And now that I think of it, Mrs. Chona did not come at all to our final do. And me being a part of the soc, helped in organising it. The registration was to start at about 8:30, but some schools turned up at 8:00. At that point of time the only thing which indicated that there was an inter school event happening was the banner outside the AVH. Other than that we didn't even have the laptop in which we were going to store their presentations. Finally Joseph Sir came to our rescue and got us a laptop.
By the way I will tell you about what can happen in a Mathematics event , because I am often asked what do we do when we get all the geeks together. There were 3 events in this one- Project Presentation, Quiz and Problem Solving. In the project presentation, the schools were supposed to show some investigation in some field of Mathematics.
For the Crusade, Nisheeth had prepared an Intro, which was stored on the Mac. Now this was an 800 mb file and the day before the event we were told that we could take the mac to the AVH. What happened was as follows- we already had 3 teams in the AVH, Joseph sir after fixing the laptop was nowhere to be seen and we could not play the intro at that time. I got a bit panicky and went to the egurucool lab only to be told that the video was being rendered and Joseph sir was looking for another computer to play the intro. I got more panicky and i think in that state of mind visited the egurucool lab atleast 5 times in 20 mins , only to be told my Maanick that the video was being rendered. Phew!
Finally Karan came to our rescue and he himself took the Mac up to the AVH. By this time the Chief Guest Prof . Dinesh Singh had arrived, and we still didnt have the video playing. At that time I was given my speech by Jonaki Mam, and we started the event without 2 judges ( and the intro). Back in the control room , Nisheeth and Karan were asking for time to make the connections . Finally our judges, Dr. Amitabh Tripathi and his wife arrived and Dr Singh obliged us by making a very long speech. ( yes this is the first time i was wishing for the speech to go on and on). Thankfully, after the speeches the intro was played and was quite appreciated by the guests.
After that was smooth sailing. Everything went perfectly and we ended the event at 4:00 pm. Birla Vidya Niketan were the overalll first and Mother 's International came second.
Though this was my first time at organising some thing, I had lots of fun ( overlooking the fact that a certain Mr. Rathik Bansal was there to kill all the fun) and I thank Karan and Nisheeth for being there for all the computer related problems.

Carnival 2004

Lots of Fun

Finally, after many days, I had real fun. Though Priyam wont agree with me, but the DJ was actally OK. The fun part was hopping from one group to another. Some people who were most prominent- Bhavya, in his cool kurta ( it was a big coincidence that the only other person in a kurta was Vrinda, I am not implying anything) , Prateek and Maanick could not be missed due to their tall presence, Sonia (sarkar) who was in a lovely dress( did I say lovely) and Sinha who really tried very hard to gel up his hair, but unfortunately did not do a very good job of it.The crowds went crazy, and I think the most freaking thing was done by a junior, who merrily took off his shirt and hoisted it for everybody to look.
Though most of my friends were busy shooting themselves, I had a fun time. This was cut short due to a very exciting Fiitjee class, and I left at 1:00.

Raga

Yesterday, I went to school for some Maths Lab work (Yes, our event i.e. the Mathematical Crusade 2004 is coming up). What with the PTA, Mun something and the Exun event going on, it was brimming with people. The only thing which I could hear was, Gursartaj yelling on his walkie talkie -"Where is Karan?". And though I was in school from 9:00 to 11:00, even I could not see Karan.

Anyhow, after coming back, I went to see Morning Raga, a pleasant relief from studies as well as the usual hindi cinema. I liked the movie. It was not stretched and there were not dollops of love put in, to make it saleable. It finished in about one and a half hour and since it was basically about music it was nice. It was funny at times too. For eg,., the band's drummer whose real name was Bali or something, insisted on being called Balls. The band was all about the fusion of Carnatic and new age music.
But the best part about the film was that though it was set in South India, the director was not loud about this fact, in comparison to Gurinder Chaddha who is very loud with her potrayal of the typical Punjus (ok Punjabis, if you insist). And even the acting was quite good. Othen than the lead, I loved Lilette Dubey( who always impresses me).

Life is Hell

I have been asked by my bus mate to blog soon. One helluva place this one. A food court with varieties like Mc Ds, Dominoes , Subway,Street Food,Baskin Robbins, everybody’s fav Barista, Tandoori stuff, Simbly South , etc,etc to suit your platter. The best thing about this place is that you can sit at one place and get food from any of these joints. And you don’t necessarily have to watch a movie to get an entry to the diner.

Among school stuff, we had our Scholar badge ceremony on Thursday and there were so many students receiving scholar badges that only the gold medallists were given some time on the stage. All the others were rushed to the stage and their exit was even quicker .I felt that the worst part of the ceremony was our Head Boy Prateek, grilling into us in his speech that there were just 40 working days left. That was bad.

Everything is drawing to a close. Fiitjee is busy wrapping up the syllabus, which means completion of chapters at breakneck speed, and thus I have loads of work to finish(what with packages piling up).

We recently organised a Mathematics Quiz for Class XI. With a few hiccups in the beginning (read Aditi Mishra, President Interact Club) it went on quite well, and Exun had quite a lot of publicity ( well Karan made a presentation in record time).

I would love to say " I write late into the night, and the lamp is burning bright. My dear Agnes is sitting behind me and I feel like the happiest person int the world......" . Fine, I will cut it.

Cherio .

Right Back

I have just discovered a heaven for food lovers like me, which really suits our group, because there is always a problem of what we will eat. The weather is pretty nice and I am looking forward to my brunch of paneer paranthas. I am very disappointed because today's Brunch did not have Vir Sanghvi's Rude Food.
I have just completed Alternating Current, a pretty simple topic. So I am taking a break and thought I would write a tiny post.
Music is one of the things which is sustaining me through these exams. When I am writing about music, I think the music of Swades ( for all you morons who have been busy studying and have not even had a look at the idiot box, it is a film by Ashutosh Gowariker starring SRK and music by A.R. Rehman) is pretty nice, especially "Yun Hi Chala", which has been sung by Udit Narayan, Hariharan and Kailash Kher ( I have just downloaded it, and it pretty much gels with the Physics syllabus). Its different from the routine love song .Do check it out when you have time.

Till then,
cherio.

Lull before the Storm!

(Corrections have been made in the text.)

Hah, some weeks before the half yearly, and I am feeling as light headed as anything. No, don't make a mistake in thinking that I have completed my course or something, because I haven't and neither do I intend to do so before the last day ( oh well I kind-of specialise in this, last minute stuff). Looking forward to completing 10 chapters in chemistry (God knows how's that possible) in one day. What with none of the teachers completing the course (Can you believe it? Even the English teacher has not finished, I am clueless.)
Physics is a different issue. Our beloved teacher has been bantering about the wave chapter ( or was it ray optics?), without anybody getting anything in their head. Today she recommended Karan, some foreign book to refer for something ( I don't think I remember what for) and we all had a hearty laugh. Here we were not able to understand her, and she gives us some post graduate book to refer to.

The only two subjects which I think I can manage are Maths ( only determinants may pose some problem) and Computers. Chemistry is purely based on memory this time ( and I have this inhibition that it is going to fail me this time) and ,in Physics, other than the Optics part , we have done it everything in Fiitjee.
Lastly coming to English, there is no use of studying ,because anyhow Mrs. Nagarkar doesn't know counting beyond 60 ( out of 100), study or no study.

So, people lets go for the kill and have a blast!

The Bong Theory

I was wondering , actually pondering (what with end of phase tests, a nicely done MT and a holiday to look forward, I have loads of time) about why people like calling us Bongs. I was initially going to write about Chocolate Excess, one of my favourite pastries from Barista , but on being referred to as a Bong even in my piano class by one of my Sanskriti going friends, I chucked the idea.

So here I am asking you this simple question,- why do people and specially Punjabis call us Bongs.

I will do some plain reasoning. Saying "Bengali" is not that long, well if you compare it to Punjabi, its just the same. But I haven’t heard anybody say "Punjs" or "Ponjs" for that matter. Some of you would like to come up with this , that most of the Bengali words when pronounced have an added ‘o’ , as compared to Hindi. But there are a thousand other words that have nothing to do with the above said . Anyhow, since DPS is crowded with Punjabis, and we are a small minority, I don’t know why they do this to us. If somebody asks you- "Are you a Punjabi", it doesn’t sound that bad (most of the times they don’t even bother) but when they say "Are you a Bong" , it sounds as if somebody is abusing you right on your face. I mean the word "Bong" sounds atrocious to me. And people usually guess (correctly ) when somebody is a Bengali, which makes it even worse.

There must have been a thousand times when my friends have mocked at me for pronouncing the "r" wrongly (in Hindi ). For instance words like " Padh " . I am sure you must have got what I am trying to say. Its plain stupidity. I mean at the end of the day, you are trying to say something. So if the listener comprehends, how the hell does it matter if you have pronounced it correctly or not. But no, everybody wants to have a laugh at the cost of others. Its just ghastly!!

Bizzare

To start off with, a very Happy Birthday to Bhavya. May you live to brag about a zillion of prizes that you go on to win.

Today was Teacher's Day. The school celebrated it on Friday. Well, I cannot call it celebrations, but that was Mrs. Chona's idea of fun. An out of the world dress code for the teachers and a equally bad antakshari. This was followed by a Question Answer session with the teachers. It was initially meant to be embarrassing for the teachers, but with questions like- "What do you like most about DPS", it turned out to be quite amicable.Did I tell you about what Mrs. Chona was wearing. I know most of the intelligent lot sat at home, and this is to their advantage. Our dear Princi turned up in a flowery top and trousers.

Anyhow, I was talking to few of my convent friends, and I found out that on Teacher's Day in their schools, class 12th dressed up and behaved as teachers ( saris and what not ). God knows exactly what is their idea of fun. One day of formal dressing is quite enough for me.

The month of September has started, and everybody is quite busy following up their respective career paths. A usual day is somewhat like this - Sahiba is doing her Toeffl book. Karan comes up to our desk and asks Sahiba what she is upto. What follows is a conversation on scores and other stuff, which sounds gibberish to me ( hey no offence, its just that I dont quite understand). So I put my head down and try to catch on some sleep. But thats not destined to be, and our subject teacher shows up.
Mrs. Mamta Sharma is also keeping Class 12th busy by getting quite a number of foreign colleges to come and give their presentations. All in all the atmosphere is just building up.

I just found out that Nilesh and his friends have taken up a serious grudge against Karan, who recently wrote a review of their performance on his blog stating the bitter truth. This has resulted in quite a war of words. In case you care ,check out the comments for that particular posting on Karan's blog.

I just finished reading Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Its a gem of a book. In case you haven't studied French, its a bit difficult in the beginning. But after 15 pages or so, you get a hang of it and usually the explanation is given in the next line. It so happened with me, that when we shifted to the Senior Library, I did not understand half the fiction books, and after that when I could have read some of the books, I didn't bother. But about this book I had read Karan's review and when suddenly I saw that Shri (one of my class friends) had got it, I thought , why not give it a try. And I think I will recommend it to everybody.

Back To It

Some few hundreds of students get jittery nights after every two months, and this lasts for about 1 week, well that is the only time we wake up to the fact , that the next weekend we have a Phase Test.
Let me just give an idea of what a phase test is like, it means two days of nerve racking questions, which make your mind boggle. We have the screening on Sat from 3:30 -6:30p.m (mcq type). After that ordeal is over, comes a even bigger one that is on Sunday. The exam schedule is from 10 in the morning to 6 in the evening. No, not continuous that would have killed us. So basically two hours each of Physics, Chem and Maths with an hour long break in between two exams, that makes it even worse as you get to know that half the things which you thought were correct are wrong, and you feel psst, that makes the next exam go even worse. So you see it is a continuous process.
Anyhow, abt this Phase Test, Maths was the most decent(both in screening and in the mains). Physics is always just about ok. Chemistry was a killer. Organic, need I say anything more.

I do have a review test the next weekend, so I just want to enjoy this Monday off. Will write some more, perhaps later.

Not exactly looking forward to the Monday Test, which I think is going to be a killer.

It feels very good to be posting again, though

It is one of my observations, thats it generally rains the hardest when I have to go for a Fiitjee class. Just when I would like to sit back, and enjoy the wonders of nature, looking from the window, I have to go out and also get trapped in a traffic jam. I hate getting wet in the rain, as I am very prone to cough and cold, but still I love seeing the other people get wet. Anyhow, it stopped raining the moment I got into my class. Well its good in a way, because I hate to sit in a class room when its raining outside. Its completely different from sitiing at home, because there you have to pay attention to the teacher, which makes things very difficult. Take todays example,
we were doing Ionic Equilibrium, (its the second time we are doing it and finally things are falling into place) in Chem, and I was finding it very hard to "listen him".(Yeah, thats what our Chem teacher says-"Listen Me". He is a very fine teacher though ). And I was sleepy. So i took some water from my bottle and splashed it across my face, while sitting in the class, which atleast helped in awakening me to some extent.
Anyhow, I have changed the template to match with the current moods. Well, this is how all the greens appear to me in the rainy season. So have a SPlash!

Hey everything is just fine now. I mean in the recent days I had a couple of fights, well looking back upon them they werent cat fights , but cold war with some of my very good friends. They were sorted out today.( After coming to XII, basically the problems arises, when people start going out, and then they cant give much time to their old friends, which becomes pretty disgusting.) Anyhow, things got sorted out , with enormous help from Soumya. Well, there still remains one person, with whom the problems still persist,..
Anyhow, a lovely day. I have just returned from my piano class, and finally I got my teacher to teach me Sounds of Silence, and when she played it for me, it was simply heaven. Its raining too.

Fiitjee Phase Tests are on 28-29th August , so most probably, my frequency of writing posts will slow down.
Please excuse.

Friday, the 13th

The unlucky day, well perhaps you could say so. The beginning was just perfectly fine. Queen meeny miny monroe's birthday , and I was also able to finish a Physics experiment in i day. Thats really something. And it was also raining. But it was the rain which turned my lovely day sour. It so happened that today our bus was parked in that street , thats right before ppc. Anyhow, just to avoid the stupid water which was trickling from the bus's rooftop, I decided to move a bit towards the wretched ditch. And lo! and behold I fell right into the ditch. Yuck!.
Yeah, I know it is pretty hilarious for all of you there, but I felt sick. I knew if I tried to climb up, I would go deeper , so I shouted for Shantanu,a class XI friend of mine. He helped me up, but by that time it was so slippery, that if he wouldnt have clung to the bus, we would have both gone down. A real terrible experience.
The bad luck continued. For all of the lucky people who were sitting in their home enjoying the rain, the scene on the roads was really pathetic. I had to go to Fiitjee, and was caught in a big traffic jam. It was already 3:30, and ultimately, I got down from the car near the IIT flyover and walked to Laxman Public School where I spent another 4 hrs trying to get fluids into my head.Sad plight. No I dont mind walking, if I know I am not getting late. But when its past my class time, i get very tense.
So Friday, the 13th turned out to be unlucky for me. (I know for quite a few peple it was wonderful, like Bhavya who won the first prize at Fr. Agnels. Congratulations, though they looked really funny in those sunglasses.).

I would just want to wish Monroe a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY from my side.

P.S. Why I am saying this. One of my good friends , Sinha recently started blogging ( he insists on referring to me as mr.c there) and in his second entry has made out as if I am the biggest hogger aound (no considerations for Nisheeth or Bhavya). No I am not, and I like to have good food as other normal ppl do.
[ Well I have not added him to my links, not coz of the above mentioned stuff, but coz he knows he has to make it a blog worth viewing before that. Sinha u kno, only u have to go through this ].

Today in the morning when I saw Nilesh with his electric guitar and amp. for the morning assembly , I got really excited , expecting some good rock/metal number. I mean its been a long time since we had those guys jamming (last time was the day before the summer hols). But I was heading for a huge disappointment. They started playing Hotel California( soft by their standards) and with Sehrag singing, ohmegod. The mikes also gave up on them. A Disaster.
Anyhow, from now on Damini will be called queen meeny miny monroe ( in short qm cube) on my blog.

[By the way, I havnt taken any serious offence against u Sinha, so plz chill. And when 2 out of these are big gluttons, its a bit hard on the person(s) who is/r treating us. And it is a bit embarrasing too.
Fine, no more suspense, we ended up in PVR Vikaspuri, (dont ask me why) to see Spiderman 2. A new place( atleast for us South Delhiites) but with lots of eating joints. I will start off with the (mis)happenings which took place( with me around usually nothing right happens)-
1. While watching this very intense scene in the movie, I tried to take some popcorn for Palsy who was sitting right next to me, and unknowingly dipped my fingers into the coffee (ouch!) which he was holding( while reading this plz do not hold up ur nose coz whats going to follow is more dirty). But the best part was that he actually drank the coffee after that. Immediately after this, Sinha advised Palsy to get some injections for rabies, tetanus, etc.

2. After the movie ended ( which was quite a relief for the other ppl watching, as there were some frequent comments.), we went to McDs and there Sinha ordered an icecream. I had just helped myself to some when Palsy butted his head in between, in short resulting in some cold icecream on Palsy's hair. I will not elucidate further and let ur imaginations take u through this very weird scene. But the outcome of this has been that Palsy has vowed that he will stay some miles away from me while eating and watching any movie.

3. The thing which this point shows that we are BIG GLUTTONS ( yeah, we cant still beat Nisheeth at it, i agree). We decided to have our lateish luch at Pizza Hut ( do not think we starved till then, nachos, hotdogs, cold coffee, coke, of course we do not consider them as food but thats a diff issue). I decided to serve and lo and behold the pizza toppled over inside the pan itself) and the waiter just kept staring at us. I think he had never seen a crowd like this before.

Will not go into the finer details of this magnificent day, but by this time u must have understood what happened to the pockets of Kanika and Soumya, who took the undaunting task of treating us.

A final word, with almost everybody opening up a blog now, I do hope there is some creativity left in each of us , to attract our few viewers.
I also sympathise with Bhavya for the Columban Quiz. For more details check out his blog.

Hey, Congratulations!!! to Akash and his team for qualifying for the finals of the Columban Open Quiz. I really hope they win it. For the uninitiated he is the same guy who has written a quiz book, and the preface of which has been done by Siddharth Basu.(if u pay any attention to what Mrs. chona says in the assembly u wud kno.)

Ok, finally I think we are going to check out Spidey on Monday after school. These summer months are very nice. Quite a lot of birthdays resulting in good eating and seeing quite a lot of movies. Well, this is the last year, and what with only 4 months left for school to get over, its creeping in. The feeling of not getting to see most of ur friends that is. I mean we dont even know where we are going to land up finally. And the bloody irony, is that though u would love to spend these last months having a gala time with your friends, chatting with them as if there was no tomorrow, u cannot as this is also the crucial year which decides where we go after this, and how our careers shape up. So, even though u would wanna talk to somebody ,u have to cut the converstation short. Well, most of my friends feel, that I am quite rude over the phone. (coz I usually start my conversation, by saying, "Ha, Bolo"). I think they do understand...

Anyhow, I havent forgotten a certain somebody's phone number. Right.

Lookin forward to lots of fun on Monday , well its only on some rare occasions that we have Soumya and Kanika going with us to see a movie. But this is only after overcoming the barrier of the Chem Monday Test , the course for which is humongous.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, to our dear Soumya. Incase u cannot take the cue, I really dont care.

Ok, today we had a presentation by the Drexel University . And though right now I have no plans to go abroad for Grad., I just wanted to see the prospects and well, umm miss my Physics period.Of couse ,Prospects of sitting in A.C were also pretty alluring and I am not that big a pinhead as Karan seems to think to give up on it.
Anyhow coming back to the presentation, I must say they were pretty impressive. I mean passing themselves as the best university in U.S.A. without even blinking is something. Though I agree I do not have much info on foreign colleges, but I think it does not figure in the Ivy league.
The only thing which was good in their programme was the Co-op part which talked about working in Corporate Houses of America. And though she said that they give up to 20,000$ as scholarship, I havent seen anyone getting it last year.

Though the rains graced the city for the last 2 days, it hasnt poured today, not even mild showers, so I think N section should try singing Ghanan again (though without Mrs. Aditi Sarkar's guidance).

Hey folks,
I have heard much about how I look with my specs and I do agree that "geek" completely defines it. ( I know it is hard to, but still...)
It is official now, that Bhavya has a fan following in class 11th gals. Today, he was offered a friendship band by a group of girls who also wanted him to put their names in his blog. (I will not do so, and let Bhavya introduce them to you) This is only one of the incidents which have finally led to people believing that some gals REALLY like him. This craze has increased after he organised iquiz and iquisition.

The 12th class thinks that the 11 th batch is freaky ( think about somebody finding Bhavya cute, urrrrgh..). Quoting Damini - "It is scary and very very shameful for the 11 th batch". So all of us would like to warn these 11thees who are falling head over heels for Bhavya, about the danger that they are posing to their very existence.

But I do think it is a lovely sight to see Bhavya embarrased about it. To get a jist about how major this craze is, visit his blog and check out comments where he has posted his and PC's pic.

Maddening, but true.

A bad day..

A very bad day. Started with 3 periods of March Past, ooh what a pain.Standing and marching in this disgusting weather. Then, picked up a fight, was rude to almost everybody and missed Sinha's debate (by 3 mins, when I reached the AVH, Akash's had just finished, really frustating). Well, it should have been a nice day, as it was the BIRTHDAY of one of my very good friend's (Kanika's ).

So I think I will just wish Kanika a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY..

A good thing which has happened in quite a few days, other than India winning the match against the Lankans, is that Mukesh Sir is back, which has been a blessing. I mean we have a Computers MT next week , and it was becoming quite a pain to have different teachers, who literally taught us nothing.

Coming to the match, I think Dada showed immense captaincy. And I am not saying that becoz he is a fellow Bengali. Whenever he made a bowling change, there was always a wicket taken. And though before the last ball, he was biting his nails and changing field positions at the last moment, the way he exulted after winning the match was a sight to be seen. The most unfortunate of things is that i have Fiitjee on Sunday, when they play the finals.

I really hope they win the finals, it will make them supreme in Asia .

Menacing Eye Checkup

Firstly, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Sahiba (25/07/04). May you grow more beautiful as the years pass by....

I was going to tell you about my eye checkup. Well that is part of the reason why I didn't write for two days. The other being the Indo Pak match. The whole Sunday whisked away in attending Fiitjee and then coming back home to see India hopelessly trudge a losen war (Sehwag went for 1, what else could you expect).

Anyhow, coming back to the eye checkup. I had thought that it would be a 15 min affair.I would just have to sit in front of a machine, and pat I would get my power (like it happens in Samay- I dont expect any of you to have heard about the movie, but I kinda liked it.). But no, I was thoroughly mistaken. After doing the routine checkup, I had to sit through 2 hrs of torture (well, its bit of a torture, to sit with your eyes closed for 2 hrs). Yes, they were dilating my eyes.
I managed the 2 hrs, but after coming home I could not see anything which was near and therefore could not sit on the computer. The next day when I got up, I could see the near objects but could not see the far ones.
I mean it was pathetic . I wasn't supposed to, but I watched the match, so it became worse...

Anyhow, I think I will be getting my glass powers by next Saturday.

Whenever, I think I will bunk March Past, I see Damini aka Head Girl. And oh boy, isn' t she angry with me for not attending March Past. So unwillingly we have to go and attend it with Mr. P.K. Sharma yelling out the goddamit commands.
Yes, I know some have been lucky but for others...

There are a lot of birthdays in these coming days, so look out .

I think the K section assembly was quite nice, especially that guy called Atiyindra (God knows if I have got the name right, but he is definitely a Bong). He was pretty good . I mean its tough to play the guitar as well as sing and that too a Bryan Adams number. Well, in this respect I think the Strings number, Sar Ki Ye Pahaar is marvellous (the guitarist sings the song as well).
Yes, I bunked the March Past to see the assembly (well Hema Jain mam is their class teacher and i wanted to kno what she was going to put up). And even Princi declared her as the Most Charming techer in the senior classes.
Anyhow, Nisheeth please do not blabber in Physics about my voice. We get enough of it from Mrs. Shobhaa Mehta, who has perfected the art of making her students go to sleep. And unfortunately, my voice HAS revived.

I am going for an eye check up in the afternoon. (yup, my vision is blurred, half the times cannot make out what the teacher writes on the blackboard in school as well as in Fiitjee.)

Will write about it when I come back.

Sounds of Silence...

For most of the people today, the school was somewhat peaceful today. For the uninitiated, I have got a sore throat. I am literally croaking. Though , some people prefer it that way , I am really missing my voice. I cannot do the things which I like to do, for instance sing ( though tuneless). It gives me immense pleasure in irritating someone, though I think I do some good by keeping people around me informed about the latest happenings in the music world ,who are otherwise very engrossed in their studies. I miss yelling at Sinha too.

Now something about the March Past. ok, Manav and Abhinav (he is the other guy, Coordinator Mathematics Society) cannot march. They just can't. It was really hilarious seeing them get it right.

Yearning for my voice.......
Manisha

English, and other things..

Ok, English finally became very interesting. No, not because of how Mrs. Nagarkar teaches, but because of what she was teaching. We started with Classified Ads, and the first thing that you think of is Matrimonials.
Actually before starting on the writing skill, we were sitting idle for 15 mins. So we decided to ask some people about what they would write if they were looking for their partners ( sometime later in life). The best answer which we got was Ajay's which was - "I would like to have a wife with whom I could have an intellectually stimulating conversation." After this we all shut up.

Another interesting thing is the new ,spiky haircut which Apoorv has got. Its obnoxious. Though some people beg to differ (eg. Priyam). Vijeta has also got spikes, though in his very interesting speech in the assembly he declared that having spikes is not what Gen X is all about , vagera vagera.

Otherwise , life is still very dull. What with Physica and Chem still being very big bores...

Hey, I just reread my last post and I thought it was too philosophical. But dont worry guys ,my blog wont be full of such stuff. Its only some days you know, when you feel really low.....
Anyhow to begin with , I just noticed that if you wanted to keep your head down(on the table),and just relax, people would think that there was something utterly wrong with you. For eg. I had suddenly developed a cold over the weekend (Another of my observations - virus invasions are usually sudden- be it the computer or the human body) and was trying to catch up on some sleep when I was flooded with questions such as "Whats the matter", "Why are you so melancholy" (by Palsy) etc. Thus my whole break was ruined in convincing these guys that I was just plain sleepy.

Anyhow I decided to extend my sleep to the Physics period. As usual it was very boring and Mrs. Shobha Mehta was trying to teach us some God knows what effects , and dictating some notes. So there I was trying to do both things simultaneously. I mean its hardly possible but Soumya nudged me everytime i fell asleep. So this way i could do both things.

Anyhow the joke of the day was , when I was yelling in the break (trying to convince my friends ) Adi commented- "Manisha, do you have vocal chords or is it the distortion of an electric guitar".
Everybody just burst out laughing. It was really hilarious at that time.
Anyhow if you havent got the joke , just leave it. Its kind of silly afterwards.

Lastly , I would like to say all the best to Bhav and his team who are organising the debate for class XII (what with debaters such as Vijeta, Roaming saint,...)

Till then,

Hail Achilles !!!

Ups and Downs

People all around me are so sure of what they are going to do , their future plans. And though I know that I want to get into IIT , this year's performance has really disheartened me.I mean except the Toppers who came from our school, the other students have got ranks in the late thousands. So its becoming more and more difficult for the normal guys who have to make lots of efforts to balance both school and IIT coaching. I think this is the reason why i had been a bit touchy for the last few days. Soumya is the one who has actually gone through my mood swing (as she sits with me and happens to be a great friend of mine).Anyhow, yesterday in the break there was nobody in the class (everybody had gone to increase their Maths marks, Kathuria gave the corrected papers on 16th). So I was trying to do some organic questions when Kanika (another great friend of mine) came in. Kanika made me go for a walk with her. And I think that made things more clearer to me. I talked to her abt the difficulties which I was facing and she made me realise that I wasn't the only one who was facing the problems.Everybody has to go through it. I mean most of us. Those who dont have to are lucky.
But anyhow I have decided that I will give it my best shot and then whatever happens is my destiny and I will accept it without any regrets.
I know nobody noticed it (neither did I want anybody to kno) but I was really in a sullen mood and feeling very down. That's why in the first place I thought of writing a blog. The rains and the talk have helped in making it a lot better, actually I think it is back to normal. Also writing about it has helped.
So my dahling Soumya I wont stop you from laughing on jokes, I will laugh with you .

Smarting Ideas!

Well Well .. to begin with Princi sure gets weird ideas. This time I am referring to her decision about the dress code for the appointees for Investiture Ceremony (march past). It is: a white kurta ( no embroidery and should be full sleeves with a collar), along with a Gandhi cap( God knows when Gandhiji wore a cap). She is also going to make us wear Tiranga sashes (hope I have got the spelling correct) .I do think it is a non sensible idea, I mean our uniforms are so much more smarter. But anyhow who can stop her .She is The Invincible.

Anyhow Karan has been very kind to my writing that I am a tomboyish person and hitting me right throughout the day . Says he can do that if I am really that sort of person. Anyhow I will be changing that in a few days time.Could not do it today , have just returned from another tiring session of Fiitjee.

After going through what I have written I do think I use too many Anyhows . Lagta hai I have to search for a new tagline.

Till then
Cherio.

Strings

For those people who had tuned into MTV at 5:00 p.m. today, it was a royal treat. Strings, the Pakistani band was playing
live in the MTV studios. They were really awesome. This is one of the few Hindi bands which is really good.
They performed all their hits like Door, Sar ki ye, Dhaani, Bole Bole, Anjaane etc. The lead guitarist was really good and I think those of you who missed it, must catch the repeat.
Talking about bands I think the Pakistani bands Fuzon and Strings are really good. Fuzon has a very fresh feeling to it. I really love Khamas(Mora Saiyan). Even the video is a bit different. The way the guy sings is bru..lliant. Tere Bina is also nice. Did you
know its one of the songs of the movie Hyderabd Blues 2.

Finally have got all my papers and managed an average of 81% (Its bad but thats all I could do by studying on the last day before the exams.)

Chem Bomb Blast!!

A typical bad day. Started with our darned class assembly. And though it was short and sweet , & Vijeta's speech had the audience in splits (for totally different reasons),Princi dahling decided not to give us the icecream. I dont kno what it is with our class but we have never been getting icecreams from class VIII.
After that in the last period we were given our Chem papers. Mr. Dhawan seems to have taken out all his anger on us while checking the papers. The highest till now is 52 or something. No, i am not revealing my marks. But this was a disaster. Not something with which I would like to end my day at school.

As Prateek seemed to have changed his hairstyle (he now combs his hair back), Roaming Saint has retired back to his original hairstyle which is much better.

T end this post I would like to thank Sinha for all the compliments he showered on me about our class assembly in the break (and in the process ruining it as each time I had to shoo him off from our class).

By the way our class has been shifted to E106.

The Beginning

This is Inspiration.
After going through a couple of blogs i thought i'll also subscribe to one.
Lets begin with wishing Apoorvi a very Happy Birthday(4/07).
He took us for lunch today to Yo China.
Firstly his bro is awesome (cool attitude). Anyhow we had Agzez Bloodfist (Nisheeth Sharma for the uninitiated)with us who 's a hogger. So we ended up emptying Apoorvi's pockets.
I think the most shocking thing for Sinha was that he realised that i had table manners (which I usually do not showcase as most of the times we eat at fast food joints)
One person who certainly didn't have them was SS (figure it out on ur own), who managed to get noodles on her hair.)
Also this was a lifetime opportunity for Apoorvi as he had SS all to himself for once.(though Sinha also wanted some attention!!)
NO OFFENCES MEANT.
But anyhow we ended up in Barista and I ended up playing Chess with Rahul ( a friend of Apoorv's) whom i defeated in the 15 min play, though some would beg to differ.
I think this is enough for the first posting.
Guys u can write ur comments too.
P.S. Am dreading tommorrow (have our class assembly and will be getting Chem papers)
